My capstone experience was excellent! I talked to a lot of different people who enjoyed my project as well as all of the other student’s projects. It was interesting to hear people relate two completely different projects and how they made a connection between some of them. Overall I think everyone did an awesome job, and I think we all can take away something important from this experience. Since all of our projects were so broad in the eye of Milwaukee, I think we all captured a piece of it, and showed how we all interact with each part of the city, or the people within the city.
Milwaukee Music
How does the music scene in Milwaukee contribute to the different cultures throughout the city?
1.How do people interact with each other through music and the different venues?
2.What separates Milwaukee from other cities involved in music culture?
3.How can we increase tourism in Milwaukee with the music scene besides Summerfest?
My final photo walk was focused on Milwaukee parks and the activities in them. Disc Golf is very popular in Wisconsin, and the city of Milwaukee hosts four courses within fifteen minutes of each other and many more just outside of the city. The courses are usually open nine months a year despite the weather in Wisconsin, and people play year round. I saw a four some on the course and followed them for a few holes and talked to them about the sport and how Milwaukee has catered to it.
I had an awesome time at the showcase and I was so blown away by everyone’s products and services! I thought everyone did a great job on designing and actually getting everything done and ready for the show (I know I was freaking out). I couldn’t believe the amount of people that showed up, although it was mostly friends/family, there were a lot of people that didn’t know who we were and were genuinely interested in everything we had to say/show. Overall I think this was a great experience for all of us, and also a good way to network and showcase our design skills to the outside world. The space that was provided was excellent and I thought it was perfect for us and what we were doing, it looked very professional and everyone that was there agreed. I hope future classes have the opportunity that we did to showcase our work in that space and be exposed to professionals from all over Milwaukee!
